Moraine Rainforest Walk

The Moraine Walk is a short 30 minute rainforest walk that takes you to where the terminal face of the Fox Glacier was in the years 1750 and 1600.

A moraine is the rubble bulldozed ahead of a glacier and deposited at its terminal face. This loop track crossing both takes in both of the AD 1600 glacial moraine as well as the AD 1750 moraine ridge, the easy 30 minute Moraine Walk passes through striking transitions between young and old rainforest.

Two separate Our Foxing Guides on the Moraine Walk deal with the rainforest tree species of rata and kamahi. Come prepared to be introduced to both!
