Lake Matheson Walk

Lake Matheson is world famous for its beautiful mirror reflections of Mt. Cook/Aorangi, Mt. Tasman and the Southern Alps, and a “must do” experience on the West Coast. If the weather is clear and calm this really is a wonderful experience, especially in the early morning or evening.

Fox Glacier Valley Walk

This popular short walk takes you to the terminal face of Fox Glacier, and is suitable for most ages and fitness levels. If you are not planning to do a guided walk on the glacier with Fox Glacier Guiding, we recommend that you at least visit the glacier face by doing this walk.

Moraine Rainforest Walk

The Moraine Walk is a short 30 minute rainforest walk that takes you to where the terminal face of the Fox Glacier was in the years 1750 and 1600.
A moraine is the rubble bulldozed ahead of a glacier and deposited at its terminal face.

Food, we can’t live without it, there’s a great range of eateries for you to choose from in Fox Glacier. If you want a full spread or a quick bite there’s something here for you. There’s cafés, bars, restaurants and a general store for your daily supplies.

Cycle Hire/Bike to the Glacier

Hire a bike and explore the Fox Glacier village and surrounds. Take a ride through the areas amazing landscapes and visit places like the Fox Glacier Valley where you can see the the ice make its way from the high peaks to the temperate rainforest.

Mt Fox Route

This tough tramp climbs through steep bush terrain to 1021 metres. All who take this on must be fit and expect to have incredible views upon arrival at the summit (weather permitting). For experienced and well-equipped trampers only.

Chalet Lookout Track

The Chalet lookout track is a short 1.5hr return trip to an absolutely stunning viewing point. It mixes lush rainforest walking with intense mountain and glacier scenery. You will wind your way up through bush to an old chalet site.

Mt Cook Lookout

A short drive down the road from the holiday park is a very nice Mountain Viewpoint. We find the views we’re surrounded by are never boring and it’s always good to be informed of exactly what you are seeing.

Historic Swingbridge Walk

Take the family on a really FUN walkway, it’s a short drive from the holiday park and incorporates an historic swingbridge with glacier views, a wild rainforest and can be either a short or long sojourn. This track also links with other great walkways.

Biking Tracks

If you are bringing your bike to Glacier Country then you’ll get a real good taste of the areas lush rainforests and the glacier themselves. Both the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers are easily accessed by bike on brand new trails.

Valley Tours & Shuttles

Group tours and shuttle services are available in Fox Glacier with Fox Glacier Tours. They provide a full pick up/drop off service to the park. If you are not travelling with a vehicle this may be important to you!
